Volkswagen T25 / T3 Holdsworth Villa (Mark 1) Camper Model History
Circa 1980 Holdsworth introduced the T25 / T3 Volkswagen Holdsworth Villa. This was available in either tintop, poptop elevating roof or hightop roof versions. An early brochure from circa 1980 shows that initially there were two layouts of Holdsworth Villa either the “Super Two” or the “Family Five”. The brochure also refers to the model being called the Holdsworth Vigo although the associated price list refers to the Holdsworth Villa so it is possible that Holdsworth initially intended to call the model the Vigo ? The “Super Two” was designed for a couple and incorporated two singles beds and the “Family Five” was designed for a family and incorporated a double bed. After these first versions I believe Holdsworth consolidated the design into what became the typical layout for the Villa having cupboards along the side behind the drivers seat, a removable seat behind the passenger seat and a rear seat that converted into a 3/4 width double bed.
The Holdsworth Villa was fitted with either the petrol 1600 cc, 2000 cc air cooled engine or the diesel 1600 cc water cooled engine. Circa 1983 either 60 or 78 bhp water cooled petrol engines were available. At this time either four or five speed manual gearboxes or an automatic gearbox could be specified.
