Volkswagen T25 / T3 Holdsworth Variety Camper Model History
Circa 1984 Holdsworth introduced a new model called the VW T25 / T3 Holdsworth Variety. This was a hightop camper using Volkswagens factory hightop van as a basis. The interior was unusual in design as it had the kitchen and storage lockers running across the rear end. The two flexi seats could be used in a variety of layout options and could be arranged to create either two single beds or a double bed. The Holdsworth Variety was fitted with either 60 or 78 bhp water cooled petrol engines or the diesel 50 bhp water cooled engine. Four or five speed manual gearboxes or an automatic gearbox could be specified. 3) Volkswagen T25 Holdsworth Variety Colour Options As far as I know the VW Holdsworth Variety was available in 3 colours. R1R1 Pastel White (L90D) (Pastellweiss) (with white roof) B5B5 Bamboo Yellow (LH1B) (Bambusgelb) (with white roof) J5J5 Medium Blue (LH5G) (Mediumblau) (with white roof)
4) Volkswagen T25 / T3 Holdsworth Variety Furniture Specification Furniture is finished in walnut faced plywood with work tops in leather grained laminate. The furniture panels and upholstery were trimmed with either a blue or brown theme.
The Volkswagen T25 / T3 Holdsworth Variety layout consisted of:
A) Adjustable swivelling front driver and passenger cab seats.
C) Optimus 8340 two burner cooker unit with grill and simmer plate.
D) Optimus sink unit. M) Optimus drainer.
E) Storage unit. K) Roof Cabinets. G) Wardrobe.
F) Electrolux RM 122 two way (gas / 12 volt operated) refrigerator below cooker. Fridge has internal ice cube tray.
H) Two fold out flexi-seats with storage (can be used for either porta loo or bulky items). Each seat folds out to form side bench seat for dining. They can both face forwards when driving and they lift out altogether for more free floor space. They are also used in conjunction with the cab seats to form either two single or one double bed.
Other features include: Full carpeting - 100% man made - wipes clean with a sponge. Draylon curtains all round. Draylon zippable seat covers. With cab seats swivelled and folded flat and flexi seats reclined you can form either two single beds (1981 mm x 607 mm) or a large double bed (1981 mm x 1575 mm). Note the standing headroom from rear of van to front windscreen.
Fluorescent lighting above kitchen. Courtesy lights. Hot and cold water provided by Hot Springs water heater. Louvre window. Removable rear table and optional removable front table.
5) Options available at extra cost included: Childs cab bunk (1422 mm x 660 mm). Under floor space heater system. Swivelling cab seats with cab front table to make second dinette.
6) Volkswagen T25 / T3 Holdsworth Variety Hightop Roof Specification
Uses Volkswagens factory fibreglass hightop with standing height from the rear seat right to the front windscreen. Due to the design of the roof there are no interrupting roof beams. Opening windows on each side of roof. Optional upholstered roof boards that can be positioned anywhere within the giant roof aperture to form a double bed (1829 mm x 1168 mm). Boards can be removed when not in use.
